Childbirth Education FAQs

This page needs edits and is under construction! If you have any questions, please call Jenny at 432-413-6424.

What’s the difference between your class and classes offered at our local hospitals?

Classes at Nurture Me focus on preparation for natural childbirth. There are no other classes in the Permian Basin like ours. We do not focus on hospital policy and procedures, and our classes do not include a hospital tour as part of our curriculum. We also offer a one day (7 hour class) to fit the schedules of busy, working couples. Our classes prepare women for natural birth regardless of whether they are planning to deliver at home, the local Birth Center, or one of the local hospitals. Our classes are deisgned to replace a class you would take at a hospital, although we do still recommend touring your birth facility and taking a Breastfeeding class.

What training do your childbirth educators have?

Our childbirth educators, Jenny and Courtney, are both Registered Nurses who each have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and are trained as DONA International birth doulas. Our educators are also trained and certified as Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educators (LCCE). Lamaze International is the gold standard in childbirth education and you won’t find any other Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educators in the Permian Basin! Jenny and Courtney have both completed the Trained Breastfeeding Educator (TBE) program through the Texas Department of Health and Human Services. Courtney has also been trained through the Healthy Children's Project and is a Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC).

What topics do you cover in your classes?

Our classes are meant to completely prepare you for natural childbirth! We focus a lot on mental, emotional, and physical preparation for natural birth. Read more about our curriculum by clicking here.

Will my partner benefit from the class?

Watch this video and listen to these dads first hand talk about the importance of the Dads role in birth and how childbirth education for you AND your partner can help you have your best birth!

Does my insurance cover the cost of your class?

Most likely!  Major insurance companies will often pay for the cost of childbirth education classes (or at least a portion) offered by Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educators! You may be able to use your FSA or HSA accounts to pay for our class as well. Please contact you insurance company and asked about your childbirth education benefits and the topics they consider eligible for reimbursement. We will gladly provide you an itemized invoice for your insurance company! Send us an email if you have a specific question about insurance reimbursement.

When is your next class?

Our classes are scheduled based on consumer (that’s you!) demand. We are a small business and are able to be somewhat flexible with our dates! We tend to hold a class every other month and the classes are generally filled weeks in advance. We do have a waiting list and people occasionally have to cancel. Be sure to contact us as soon as you decide you want to take a class so we can get you registered for a class before you have that sweet baby! You can also register online by clicking here!

Watch the video below from PushForYourBaby.org to hear about why taking a Childbirth Education Class is one of the most important things you can do to prepare for the birth of your baby!
